LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team returns home Friday for a tri-match at Pruitt Hall, taking on Georgia College & State University at 1:00 p.m. and the United States Sports Academy at 7:00 p.m.
Fresh off their first back-to-back wins since 2022, the Tigers aim to put on another show in front of their home crowd.
West Alabama collected their first two wins of the season on Tuesday, September 9th, defeating Southern Wesleyan 3-1 before sweeping Miles College 3-0. Freshman middle blocker
Jazlyn Snow headlined the night with 11 kills and a school-record .917 hitting percentage against Miles, while setter
Jana Petkovic totaled 84 assists across both matches.
Klára Bobánová and
KB Kinney also delivered key contributions at the net, showcasing the Tigers' balance and depth on both sides of the ball.
UWA opens Friday's action against
Georgia College & State University (5-3), who is coming off a 2-2 performance at the Valdosta State Tournament. The Bobcats earned victories over Valdosta State and Shorter, led by outside hitter
Avery Huyck, who recorded 13 kills against VSU and followed with 10 kills and 16 digs in the win over Shorter.
In the nightcap, the Tigers will face the
United States Sports Academy, who enters Friday's match still seeking its first victory of the season. The Eagles (0-7) have yet to win a set in 2025 and will look to challenge UWA and GCSU at Pruitt Hall in pursuit of their first breakthrough.
First serve for UWA's opening match against GCSU is set for 1 p.m., with the Tigers returning to the court at 7 p.m. to wrap up the day against USSA.
