LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama volleyball team is set to open Gulf South Conference play on Tuesday, Sept. 24, when the Tigers host the University of Montevallo Falcons inside Pruitt Hall. First serve is scheduled for 6 p.m.
West Alabama (4-3) enters the matchup coming off a pair of wins on Friday, rallying past Georgia College in five sets before sweeping U.S. Sports Academy. Klára Bobánová continues to lead the Tigers' attack, recording 23 kills and 11 digs against Georgia College. She was joined by strong performances from Cadence Goeden, who posted 18 kills and 12 digs, and setter Jana Petkovic, who tallied 56 assists and 10 digs in the win.
Against U.S. Sports Academy, UWA dominated with a .461 hitting percentage and 13 service aces. Gracie Huver delivered a perfect night on the attack with four kills on four attempts, while KB Kinney added seven kills and five digs. Petkovic again guided the offense with 27 assists and five aces.
Moreover, Montevallo (3-6) enters the contest following the GSC/PBC Crossover, where the Falcons went 1-2. They closed the tournament with a hard-fought five-set win over USC Aiken. Middle blocker/opposite Danielle Greene led the way with 16 kills and four blocks, while outside hitter Katie Wilkerson added 14 kills and three blocks in the victory.
First serve between the Tigers and Falcons is set for 6 p.m. inside Pruitt Hide. With UWA looking to extend its home winning streak and Montevallo aiming to carry momentum from its crossover finale, Tuesday's matchup marks an early test in Gulf South Conference play.
