West Alabama Set for GSC Battles with AUM and MC

LIVINGSTON, Ala. — West Alabama continues Gulf South Conference play this week with a pair of key matchups, hosting Auburn Montgomery on Thursday before traveling to Mississippi College on Friday.

AUM enters Thursday's contest coming off its first win of the season, a victory over Tuskegee. Taylor Lewis fueled the effort with a double-double, posting 20 of the team's 66 digs while adding 10 assists and three aces.

On Friday, UWA will head to Clinton, Mississippi, to face MC, who is riding momentum from a historic sweep of Alabama Huntsville. The victory was the Choctaws' first over the Chargers since 1994 and just their sixth in the all-time series. Felicity Pratt led the way with 13 kills, nine digs, and three service aces, while Mary Grace Foster added 10 kills and 13 assists on a .429 hitting percentage. Rhaia Davey chipped in 11 kills and five blocks, and libero Samarin Kipple totaled 18 digs.

The Tigers are looking to build on Tuesday night's dramatic five-set win over Montevallo, their first GSC victory since November 2023. Klára Bobánová (21 kills, 11 digs) and Cadence Goeden (18 kills, seven digs) powered the attack, while setter Jana Petkovic dished out 58 assists and Snow added 12 kills and five blocks.

With confidence from a strong conference opener, UWA now turns its focus to two important league contests that could set the tone early in GSC play.
