LIVINGSTON, Ala. - After a thrilling 52-44 win over North Greenville on Saturday, the University of West Alabama Football team swept the GSC Weekly Awards on Monday.

The conference announced the Weekly Award winners on Monday morning with Dearrius Nelson being named the GSC Offensive Player of the Week, Michael McGregor is the Defensive Player of the Week, Chrissean Jones took home the Freshman of the Week award, and Houston Johnson being crowned the Special Teams Player of the Week.

On Saturday, Nelson had a perfect day out Wide as the receiver registered three catches, 141 yards, and three touchdowns. All three of Nelson's catches were touchdowns with his first one being a 32-yards TD, the second being a 37-yard TD, and the final one being a career-high 72 yard TD that sealed the game for the Tigers.  After his performance on Saturday, Nelson now leads UWA with 315 receiving yards and four touchdowns.

As for McGregor, he led West Alabama's defense with a career-high 12 total tackles. Nine of McGregor's tackles were solo while the graduate student also recorded 0.5 tackles for loss. After his 12-tackle performance, McGregor is up to 21 total tackles on the year. 

With Devonte Harris suffering an injury during the game, freshman DB, Jones played alot of significant snaps on Saturday against the Trailblazers. The true freshman registered two tackles and a pass breakup in the second half. Jones played a big role in holding off North Greenville's comeback attempt with his pass coverage.

Johnson shined on Punt Return for the Tigers against the Trailblazers. The senior Receiver returned six punts for a total of 64 yards, including a 32-yard return that set up UWA's offense for a score.
