TIGERVILLE, S.C. — The University of West Alabama volleyball team fell in four sets to Mars Hill on Saturday at Hayes Gymnasium to close out the Trailblazer Invitational.
The Tigers showed resilience throughout the match. They opened the first set with a 6-1 lead, sparked by a service ace from Klára Bobánová and a kill from
Katerina Korre. Despite a late Mars Hill rally, West Alabama kept the set close. In the second set, the Tigers battled back but fell 25-21.
West Alabama dominated the third set, winning 25-8 behind an 8-point run, highlighted by back-to-back aces from Bobánová and key kills from
Cadence Goeden. In the fourth, the Tigers stayed in the fight, trading points with Mars Hill before narrowly dropping the set 25-23.
Bobánová led West Alabama with 17 kills, four aces, and 21 points, while Goeden added 16 kills and 19 points.
Jana Petkovic ran the offense with 35 assists and 10 digs, and Korre contributed three aces and 14 digs, keeping the Tigers competitive in every set.
West Alabama returns home to host the Tiger Invitational at Pruitt Hall on September 9, facing Southern Wesleyan and Miles College.
