No. 8 Tigers Suffer First GSC Defeat at Hands of Argonauts

LIVINGSTON, Ala. — The University of West Alabama Men's Basketball team narrowly fell to the West Florida Argonauts in a close 78-75 contest on Thursday night at Pruitt Hall.

Despite leading in the first half, No. 8 UWA (16-2, 11-1 GSC) was unable to maintain the advantage, with the West Florida (16-4, 9-3 Gulf South) capitalizing on their 36 points in the paint to secure the victory.

The Tigers started the first half with a quick 6-0 lead, highlighted by Elliot Tulip's layup at the 18:24 mark. UWF responded with a fast-break dunk by Tim Hall Jr. at 16:52, narrowing the gap. The teams exchanged leads multiple times, with West Alabama's BJ Brown Jr. scoring consistently. A late three-pointer by Caleb Parr, assisted by Tulip at the 1:11 mark, helped UWA regain the lead. The half concluded with West Alabama ahead 37-36 after Jakobe Singleton's free throw at the 30-second mark.

UWA shot 48.5 percent from the field and 60 percent from three in the first half while UWF shot 51.7 percent from the floor and 50 percent from three.
