CLEVELAND, Tenn. — The University of West Alabama Men's Basketball team fell to Lee University, 77-51, on Saturday at Paul Dana Walker Arena.
No. 12 West Alabama (18-3, 13-2 GSC) couldn't find their offense on Saturday, shooting 31.6 percent from the floor, 21.7 percent from three, and 50 percent from the free throw line which led to their Loss to Lee (10-9, 7-8 GSC).
The Flames established an early lead in the first half with Tylon Chatman sinking a three-pointer at 19:17, followed by Tim Vaughn's free throw, bringing the score to 4-0.
Elliot Tulip answered for West Alabama with a three-point play, making it a 4-3 game. Elliot's and-one served as the only points for UWA for the next seven and a half minutes, leading to Lee taking a double-digit lead. Ben Ritger and Willie Walton contributed significantly for the Flames in the first half, combining for 22 points to extend Lee's lead. Behind Walton and Ritger, the Flames took a 33-19 lead into the break.
West Alabama shot 23.1 percent from the floor in the first half while Lee shot 45.8 percent from the field and 50 percent from three.
In the second half, the Flames extended their lead to 24, eight minutes in. At this point in the game, West Alabama and Head Coach
Nick Woodruff went deep into their bench.
Inslee Carroll made the most of his minutes, scoring a season-high 19 points in 12 minutes of play. Carroll scored 19 of UWA's 32 points in the second half as Lee went on to win, 77-51.
The Tigers will return home to Pruitt Hall on Thursday for a 7:30 p.m. matchup against the Mississippi College Choctaws.
