LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama football team's Kendrick Joseph was named the GSC Freshman and Special Teams Player of the Week on Monday.
Joseph delivered a historic performance on Saturday against Delta State, returning two kickoffs for 97-yard touchdowns. He became the first player in UWA history to record two kickoff return touchdowns in a game since Tyreek Hill accomplished the feat in 2015.
Joseph is also the third player in GSC history to record two kickoff return touchdowns in a single game, joining Hill and Jordan Babineaux, who accomplished the feat for Southern Arkansas in 2003.
The redshirt freshman totaled 327 kickoff return yards against the Statesmen, the most in a single game in NCAA Division II football this season. Following his performance, Joseph leads the GSC and ranks sixth nationally in kickoff return yards with 594. His average of 37.1 yards per return ranks third in the nation.
Joseph and the Tigers will return home to Tiger Stadium on October 31 to face Valdosta State in a GSC matchup.
