LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Men's Tennis' Afonso Portugal was named the GSC Player of the Week on Wednesday. 

Portugal and the Tigers went 2-0 on the week with a 6-1 win coming against Spring Hill and a 6-0 victory against Tuskegee.

In those two matches, Portugal was sensational in Line two in both singles and doubles. In Line Two singles, Portugal defeated Spring Hill's Filipe Grebentsov (6-1, 6-0) before handling Tuskegee's Emmanuel Wettey, (6-1, 6-0) to cap off the week.

In doubles play, the Graduate Student teamed up with Maksim Goncharov and took home a pair of dominant wins. The duo of Portugal and Goncharov defeated the Badgers' duo of Luke Tucker and Will Huckell, 6-0, before closing the week with a 6-1 victory over the Golden Tigers' Emmanuel Wettey and Jack Shaw.

Portugal and the Tigers will be back in action on Saturday for a road matchup against Alabama State.
