LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Women's Tennis team fell to No. 1 Barry in the Semifinals of the ITA Indoor National Championships on Saturday.
No. 5 West Alabama fell behind to begin, losing the doubles point in competitive play. The duo of Shaira Rivera and Alexa Milliam won their match, 7-5 while Nanoka Kazama and Greta Zawels fell, 6-2, in Line Three. On Line Two, Jenaila Prulla and Valentina Mutilba dropped a hard fought match to 7-6 and 8-6 in the tiebreaker.
In Line One Singles, Rivera secured the first and only point of the match for the Tigers with a (6-2, 2-6, 6-2) win over Barry's Dana Heimen. On Line Two and Four, Alexa Milliam and Jian Ibrahim were involved in three set matches, but ultimately fell while Mutilba fell in straight sets, leading to a 4-1 victory for Barry.
West Alabama will now play in the third place match against Nova Southeastern on Sunday at 10:00 a.m. CST.
