LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama Baseball opened the home portion of its 2026 schedule in emphatic fashion, rolling past Albany State, 17–6, on Thursday evening at Tartt Field.
The Tigers wasted little time setting the tone, scoring three runs in the bottom of the first and erupting for five more in the second inning to take early control. West Alabama capitalized on Albany State miscues and wild pitches, building an 8–1 lead after two frames despite recording just two hits over the opening innings.
Rashad Robinson jumpstarted the offense in the first inning with a solo home run to left field, the first of two long balls on the night for the center fielder. Robinson delivered a monster performance, finishing 3-for-5 with four runs scored and six RBIs, adding a three-run homer in the seventh and a two-RBI triple in the eighth.
Nick Wilson also provided power for the Tigers, launching a solo homer in the fourth inning to push the lead to 9–1. Wilson went 2-for-5 with three runs scored and two RBIs, while
Will Wood chipped in a 2-for-4 effort with three runs scored and two RBIs.
Albany State attempted to claw back into the game in the seventh inning behind a grand slam from Luke Addison, cutting the deficit to 9–6. West Alabama quickly answered in the bottom half of the frame as Robinson's three-run homer restored a comfortable cushion.
The Tigers then put the game away in the eighth, plating five runs highlighted by a two-RBI single from
Will Wood and Robinson's bases-clearing triple, extending the lead to the final 17–6 margin.
On the mound,
Baker Green earned the start for West Alabama, tossing four innings while allowing just one run on two hits with four strikeouts.
Brodey Walker picked up the win in relief, improving to 1–0 on the season after working 1.2 scoreless innings and stranding multiple baserunners.
Laney Keeton closed the door with a clean eighth inning to seal the victory.
West Alabama finished the night with 10 hits and drew six walks, while the defense played error-free baseball. The Tigers improved to 3–0 on the season and will look to carry the momentum forward as the homestand continues.
