MONTEVALLO, Ala. - The fifth ranked University of West Alabama Women's Tennis team secured their sixth consecutive win on Wednesday with a 7-0 victory over Montevallo.
No. 5 West Alabama (13-3, 2-1 GSC) dominated doubles play over Montevallo (5-5, 1-4 GSC) as the duos of Alexa Milliam/Shaira Rivera and Valentina Mutilba/Jenaila Prulla secured victories. Milliam/Rivera took home a 6-0 win while Mutilba/Prulla defeated their opponent, 6-1.
In singles play, Rivera claimed a (7-5, 6-4) victory over Klara Podskubkova while Milliam also won in straight sets on Line Two, (6-3, 7-6). On Line Three, Mutilba picked up a dominant, (6-1, 6-2) win over Sophia Baillos. Up 4-0, Jian Ibrahim extended the Tigers' lead on Line Four with a clean (6-0, 6-2) performance.
To wrap things up, Prulla and Nanoka Kazama took care of business in Lines Five and Six. Prulla defeated Andrea Cano, (6-2, 6-0) to remain perfect on the year while Nanoka moved to 12-1 on the season with a (6-4, 6-0) win over Latizia Bojara.
West Alabama will return home on Thursday for a 2:00 p.m. matchup against Christian Brothers.
