LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The University of West Alabama Softball team continued their brilliant 2026 campaign on Sunday as they swept their series against Lee with a 8-0 win in Game Three.
UWA (33-10-1, 20-7 GSC) put together a complete performance on Sunday against Lee (17-31, 8-18 GSC). The Tigers hit .419 at the plate while Eleanor De Block blanked the Flames, holding them to four hits and a .166 team batting average.
After a 1-2-3 inning from De Block in the first, West Alabama got on the board in the second courtesy of Trinity Hatcher's seventh homer of the season.Â
UWA added on to their lead in the third with a two-run inning. Ann Marie Stanbridge and Ella Watson recorded back-to-back singles before Hatcher drew a walk to load up the bases. Stanbridge crossed the plate after a Lee error, bringing Kayla Morris to the plate who recorded a sacrifice fly that scored Watson.
De Block continued to stifle the Flames on the mound, keeping Lee off the board through the fifth. Meanwhile, UWA's offense added on to their lead in the top of the sixth as Haley Shannon drove in Trinity Brooks. Moments later, Carolyn Cagle stole home, extending the Tigers' lead to 5-0. Â
West Alabama tacked on more insurance runs in the seventh. Ella Watson reached on an error and advanced to second, bringing up Hatcher who ripped an RBI-double to make it a 6-0 lead. The Tigers weren't done in the inning as ShaKeria Washington launched her seventh home run of the year to catapult UWA to an 8-0 advantage.
To close things out, De Block secured her eighth complete game shutout of the season with a 1-2-3 inning in the seventh.
Cagle led the Tigers in hits with three while Washington recorded three RBIs. Hatcher and Washington both hit home runs to add on to their impressive day. In the circle, De Block accumulated seven strikeouts while only allowing four hits and zero earned runs.
West Alabama will return home on Tuesday for a midweek doubleheader against Georgia Southwestern that's set to begin at 2:30 p.m.
