No. 10 Tigers Dominate Senior Day, Capture GSC Regular Season Championship

LIVINGSTON, Ala. — #10 West Alabama closed the 2026 regular season in emphatic fashion on Saturday, rolling to a 9-0 shutout victory over UAH on Senior Day to secure the series win and officially claim the outright Gulf South Conference Regular Season Championship, the program's first since 2015.

The Tigers wasted no time setting the tone, erupting for three runs in the opening inning. Rashad Robinson ignited the crowd with a leadoff home run to left center, putting West Alabama on the board immediately. Later in the frame, Nick Wilson delivered an RBI single to score Hudson Walburn, and Austin Thacker followed with an RBI groundout to extend the early lead to 3-0.

UWA continued to pour it on in the second inning, as Layth Holiday launched a two-run home run to left field, scoring Kyle Blevins and stretching the advantage to 5-0. The Tigers broke the game open in the third, capitalizing on patience at the plate and defensive miscues. With the bases loaded, Blevins drew an RBI walk before Tanner Jones reached on a fielder's choice that brought in two more runs, pushing the lead to 8-0.

From there, the Tigers' pitching staff took over. Blake Westry delivered a dominant start, tossing five scoreless innings while allowing just four hits and striking out three to improve to 8-1 on the season. Thomas Kerby followed with four shutout innings in relief, striking out four and closing the door to complete the combined shutout.

Offensively, Wilson led the way with a three-hit performance, while Holiday added two hits and two RBIs, highlighted by his home run. Robinson's leadoff blast set the tone, and Wallace chipped in with a pair of hits, including an RBI single in the eighth to cap the scoring at 9-0.

UAH threatened only sparingly throughout the contest, collecting six hits but failing to break through against the Tigers' pitching staff. West Alabama's defense also remained sharp, playing error-free baseball and turning a key double play to halt any momentum.

The victory not only secured the series for the Tigers but also carried championship implications. With Lee falling to Trevecca Nazarene in their series finale, West Alabama officially clinched the outright GSC Regular Season Championship, marking a milestone moment for the program.

With the regular season complete, the Tigers now turn their focus to postseason play, carrying momentum and championship confidence into the Gulf South Conference Tournament.
