LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama men's soccer team will remain at home Monday afternoon as the Tigers welcome Texas A&M International to the UWA Soccer Field for a 4 p.m. kickoff.
West Alabama enters the matchup at 0-0-1 after opening the 2026 season with a thrilling 3-3 draw against the University of Tampa on Thursday. The Tigers held a 2-0 halftime advantage before Tampa rallied to take a late 3-2 lead, but West Alabama responded in the 87th minute to earn the draw.
David Nunez leads the Tigers offensively after a strong opening performance against Tampa, after he recorded one goal and two assists for four points, while putting two of his three shots on target. Jesper Bakli and Florian Laot also scored in the opener, with each player recording two points.
Yabsira Cobo added an assist and put both of his shots on target, including the assist on Nunez's late equalizer. Dan Erez played all 90 minutes in goal, making four saves while facing 11 shots.
West Alabama finished the opener with 10 shots and six shots on goal.
Texas A&M International enters Monday's contest at 0-0-1 after opening its season with a 1-1 draw. The Dustdevils will look to build on an opening performance that saw Jaime Martinez score the team's lone goal.
Martinez finished the opener with one goal on one shot, while Severin Hager also put his lone shot on target. Nicklas Berg-Eriksen played all 90 minutes in goal and recorded three saves while allowing one goal.
The Dustdevils return several players who contributed during the opening match, including defenders Jorge Delgado, Isaac Santos and Abner Zuniga, all of whom started and played the full 90 minutes.
Monday's matchup will give both teams an opportunity to earn their first victory of the season as West Alabama continues its opening homestand.
The Tigers will look to carry the offensive momentum from Thursday's three-goal performance into another early-season test against Texas A&M International.
Kickoff is set for 4 p.m. Monday, August 31, at the UWA Soccer Field.
