LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama men's soccer team at home Wednesday evening when the Tigers host Delta State in Gulf South Conference action at 7:30 p.m. at the UWA Soccer Field.
West Alabama enters Wednesday's matchup with a 2-5-1 overall record and a 0-2-0 mark in GSC play. The Tigers are coming off an 8-2 victory over Harding on Sunday, tying the program record for goals in a match.
Tigers' Offense
The Tigers have scored 22 goals through eight matches this season, averaging 2.75 goals per contest while recording 98 shots and 60 shots on goal.
David Nunez leads the UWA attack with eight goals, three assists and 19 points. He has taken a team-high 25 shots, placing 15 on target. Nunez is coming off a seven-point performance against Harding, where he recorded a hat trick and an assist.
Jesper Bakli ranks second on the team with four goals, two assists and 10 points, while Florian Laot has three goals, one assist and seven points. Laot has scored on three of his seven shots this season.
Mitchel Waycott has added two goals in three appearances, while Oisin Griffin and Mathias Ibanez have each recorded one goal and one assist.
The Tigers have also received goals from Ethan Sharpe, Jack Porter and Daniele Ciarlesi. Kevin Garcia leads the team with two assists.
Between the Pipes
Dan Erez has started all eight matches in goal for the Tigers, playing 671:22. He has recorded 28 saves while posting a .651 save percentage and a 2.01 goals-against average.
Scouting Delta State
Delta State enters Wednesday's contest with a 2-5-1 overall record and a 0-2-0 mark in GSC play.
The Statesmen have scored five goals through eight matches, with Tazjean Bird, Lucas Crowley, Ivan Gomez, Justin Krampl and Ajay Stewart each finding the back of the net once.
Bird leads Delta State with four points, recording one goal and two assists. Samuel Fitschen and Mills Sheridan have each added one assist, while Sioni Benham, Danny Soper and others have contributed to the Statesmen attack.
Delta State has recorded 76 shots and 35 shots on goal this season.
Daniel Santema has started all six of his appearances in goal, playing 540 minutes. He has recorded 21 saves with a .778 save percentage and a 1.00 goals-against average, while recording two shutouts.
Series History
Wednesday marks the ninth meeting between West Alabama and Delta State. The Tigers lead the all-time series 6-1-1 and hold a 4-1-1 record when the matchup is played in Livingston.
West Alabama won last year's meeting 5-1. The Tigers have scored at least two goals in seven of the eight meetings between the two programs.
The Tigers hit the road Saturday, Sept. 26, when they head to Spring Hill in GSC action at 3 p.m.
