Jack Bootsmiller enters his first season as a graduate assistant defensive coach for UWA football.
Bootsmiller played at Simpson College for five seasons. He was named 2019/2021 All-Conference Honorable Mention as a defensive lineman. He was the captain for his team during the 2020-21 season.Â
He was a volunteer strength and conditioning coach at Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville, Missouri where he ran warm-up movements for football session and assisted in the strength and conditioning for the football and men's basketball teams.Â
Bootsmiller was a volunteer strength and conditioning coach at Drake university and led the football, basketball, and volleyball teams. He watched and analyzed film with the football defensive staff.Â
He has also spent time working with the Iowa Barnstormers in the Indoor Professional Football League as a defensive line coach. He made the practice schedule each day, created and designed the defensive playbook, and made in-game decisions about defensive strategy and schemes.Â
He graduated from Simpson College with a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science in December of 2021. He has certifications in USA Weightlifting Level 1, Heart Saver CPR/AED by American Red Cross, and in Sexual Abuse Prevention.
