Larry Scott III joined the University of West Alabama defensive football staff in May 2022.
Scott will coach the defensive line, taking over for Roberto Pinilla, who left the Tigers’ staff after eight seasons to take a position at Thomas (Ga.) University.
Scott comes to West Alabama from Howard University, where he served as the defensive quality control coach on his father Larry Scott’s staff. Prior to that he was a graduate assistant coach at North Carolina State working with the defensive line after coaching high school defensive line with the Dallas (Texas) Independent School District.

Earning a Bachelor of Arts at Miles College in political science, Scott was a 2013 through 2017 Presidential Scholar while helping lead the Golden Tigers to a 2015 Southern Intercollegiate Athletic Conference championship.
