LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama men's basketball team will usher in the 2009-10 campaign on Monday, Nov. 16, against Georgia Southwestern in Americus, Ga. Tip off is set for 6:30 p.m. CST.

The Tigers recently completed a three-game exhibition season this past Saturday, falling to NCAA Division I foes Troy, Louisiana at Lafayette and Jacksonville State. In the exhibition season, the Tigers averaged 75.3 points and were led in scoring by senior forward Jason Swanson's 17.3 points per contest average. The Troy, Ala.-pre-season All-Gulf South Conference East selection also averaged nine rebounds per contest. Transfers Alquan Mendenhall and Richard Sirju both turned in 15.7 scoring averages in the trio of exhibition affairs.
The Hurricanes are coming off a 10-18 campaign in 2008-09 and finished 11th in the Peach Belt Conference with a 6-14 conference mark. GSW fell to The Citadel in its lone exhibition, 58-37. Senior Guard Marcus Scott scored 19 of GSW's 37 total points in the contest.
UWA will open its 11-game home schedule on Wednesday, Nov. 18, welcoming Concordia College of Selma to Pruitt Hall. Tip off is set for 7:30 p.m. following the women's contest, which is slated for 5:30 p.m.
