LIVINGSTON, Ala. – After playing six games away from Pruitt Hall, the University of West Alabama men's basketball team returns home to face Gulf South Conference West Division foe Christian Brothers on Saturday, Dec. 12. Tip off is set for 6 p.m. on the UWA campus. The Tigers enter the contest sporting a 5-3 mark after splitting their two games last weekend at the Montevallo Coca-Cola Classic. The Buccaneers (6-3) stroll into Livingston having won their last two games, including a 104-60 thumping of Williams Baptist this past Tuesday night. The game will be available on the B2 Network along with live stats at athletics.uwa.edu. Saturday's GSC inter-division battle between UWA and CBU will be the 15th all-time on the hardwood and the first meeting since the 2005-06 campaign. The Bucs are coming off a 2009 NCAA Elite Eight appearance after winning the GSC West a season ago. Senior guard Richard Sirju leads a trio of Tigers in double figure scoring averages. The Fort Lauderdale, Fla.-native is pouring in 17.5 points per contest along with averaging four three-pointers per game. Sirju is the league's top-three-point shooter with a 66.7 percent mark. In UWA's 77-75 setback to Eckerd last Saturday, Sirju rallied the Tigers in the second half, scoring 31 of his game-high 33 points in the final 20 minutes. Senior Jason Swanson ranks second on the team in point production with a 13.5 average. The Troy, Ala.-forward leads UWA in rebounding at 9.8 boards per contest. Swanson recorded his fourth double of the season after posting 12 points and 10 rebounds in the EC affair. Sophomore Alquan Mendenhall enters the weekend activity with an 11.4 scoring clip. Following Saturday's home contest, UWA will return to the road to face Southeastern Bible College, based in Birmingham, Ala. on Monday, Dec. 14. Tip off is set for 7 p.m. at the Mountain Chapel United Methodist Church's activities center in Vestavia Hills, Ala. The Red and White will close out the pre-Christmas schedule in Pruitt Hall on Dec. 19 and Dec. 21, welcoming a pair GSC West opponents in UAM and Southern Arkansas respectively.
