Tigers Start Three Game Road Swing at Christian Brothers

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama men's basketball team returns to action - after a nine day break – on Saturday, Dec. 11 as UWA (3-4) begins a three-game, pre-holiday road stint at Christian Brothers. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. The game will be available at www.uwaathletics.com and on ESPN 104.9 FM.

The Tigers look to return to the win column for the first time since a 104-65 victory over Concordia College on Nov. 18 at Pruitt Hall. The Red and White will also be looking for its first win over CBU (8-2) in eight tries as the Bucs lead the series 13-2.

West Alabama will rely on the duo of Alquan Mendenhall and Jonathan Griffin. Mendenhall currently sits third in the Gulf South Conference in scoring as the Pine Hill, Ala. native is averaging 18.9 points per game. Griffin – a Marrero, La. product – is fourth in the conference in rebounding averaging 8.3 boards while posting 10.5 points per game. Joining Griffin and Mendenhall in double figures is Ryan Fitch with 10 points a game.

Saturday's outing will match the Tigers against the top rebounder in the GSC – Scott Dennis. Dennis is averaging 11.5 boards a game to go along with his 12.8 points. Zach Warner leads CBU in scoring with 16.7 points per outing – which is seventh in the GSC. The Bucs – who are undefeated at home this season - enter the affair riding a three-game win streak - following a 63-50 win over Williams Baptist on Thursday.

West Alabama concludes its pre-holiday slate with a pair of contests in Arkansas. The road swing includes an outing against the University of Arkansas at Monticello on Friday, Dec. 17 followed by a contest vs. Southern Arkansas on Dec. 18. The affair at SAU will be broadcasted on ESPN 104.9 FM and at www.uwaathletics.com.
