LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama men's basketball team returns to action with two road contests before the holiday break. UWA (3-5) tips off against the University of Arkansas at Monticello on Friday, Dec. 17 at 7:30 p.m. Live stats will be available at www.uwaathletics.com.

Following the contest at UAM, the Tigers travel to Southern Arkansas for a 4 p.m. start time on Saturday, Dec. 18. The women's and men's games at Southern Arkansas will be carried on ESPN 104.9 FM and at www.uwaathletics.com.

UWA enters the weekend stint looking to snap a four game losing skid – all against Gulf South Conference West Division foes. The Tigers last victory came in a 104-65 win over Concordia College of Selma on Nov. 18 at Pruitt Hall.

West Alabama will rely on the scoring of Alquan Mendenhall. Mendenhall currently sits fourth in the Gulf South Conference in scoring as the Pine Hill, Ala. native is averaging 18.9 points per game. In the last four outings, Mendenhall has averaged 14 points. Drew Faile (Gardendale, Ala.) follows his junior teammate with 8.0 points per game during the four game span. Ryan Fitch has stepped in as the leading rebounder for the Tigers during the stretch as the Birmingham, Ala. native has pulled down 7.8 boards per game.

UAM (6-2) is riding a two game win streak entering the weekend. The Boll Weevils boast four of the conference's top scorers headlined by LA Farmer's GSC best 21.3 points per game. Ricardo Hall, Jerrell Boswell and Sergio Crowe are hovering around 13 points per outing to round out the double digit scorers for UAM. Hall also ranks among the conference's top leading rebounders with 7.9 boards per game – eighth in the GSC.

SAU (7-1) is led by Channin Harden's 19.4 points per game – which is third in the GSC – and Chase Spruiell's 5.6 boards per game. The Muleriders have won their last three outings after dropping their lone contest of the season at Lambuth. SAU 5-0 at the W.T. Watson Athletic Center.
