UWA Hosts William Carey in Midweek Affair

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama baseball team returns to Tartt Field as the Tigers (4-2) take on William Carey in a midweek outing. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. Live stats and a video stream of the game will be available at www.uwaathletics.com.

The Tigers posted a 1-1 record last week with a 13-9 win at Montevallo before falling 7-4 at Stillman on Sunday afternoon. UWA out hit Stillman College but had a hard time putting runs on the scoreboard as UWA fell 7-4 at Tiger Field. The Red and White posted 12 total hits in the loss to SC's eight hits. The Tigers stranded 15 runners on the base path and tallied 12 fly ball outs. The Red and White used a six run eighth inning to propel them to the victory at Montevallo. Dallas Rogers leads UWA at the plate as the McCalla, Ala.-senior has posted a .500 batting average. Rogers leads the team in hits, doubles and triples and is third in RBI.

WCU (5-3) looks get on the field for the first time since Feb. 10 due to the weather sweeping across the southeast. In their last game action the Crusaders defeated LSU-Alexandria 1-0 to earn a doubleheader split. Jason Terrell paces the Crusader offense with a .429 batting average while leading Carey in RBI with six.

The Tigers have won four straight against the Crusaders and are 12-3 against WCU under UWA skipper Gary Rundles.

Following the midweek outing, West Alabama travels to Boca Raton, Fla. a four-game series against the defending NCAA Division II champion Lynn University. The weekend series begins on Friday, Feb. 19 with a single game starting at 1:00 p.m.
