LIVINGSTON, Ala. - Former University of West Alabama Baseball player, Steffon Moore, was signed by the Cincinnati Reds organization over the weekend.
Moore, a left-handed pitcher, played for UWA in 2018, appearing in 13 games and accumulating 45.0 innings. Moore's arm was electric for the Tigers as the lefty recorded 76 strikeouts in his 13 appearances. Moore held opposing batters to a .185 batting average while registering a 5.60 ERA.
After showcasing his skills with West Alabama, Moore was drafted by the Tampa Bay Rays in the 26th round of the MLB Draft in 2018. Â
After being drafted, the left hander competed in the minor leagues and various professional baseball leagues around the world. Moore has registered 134 strikeouts in 96.1 innings of his Minor League career career thus far.
Before the Cincinnati Reds purchased Moore's contract, the pitcher was on the Kansas Monarchs' roster in AA. The former Tiger is now within the Reds' organization and will most likely begin his tenure in the minor league system for the organization.
