UWA Visits Lynn for Weekend Series

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama baseball team takes to the road to face the defending NCAA Division II National Champion Lynn University in a four game series. The weekend series begins on Friday, Feb. 19 with a 1:00 p.m. first pitch.

UWA is coming off a 9-5 win over William Carey on Wednesday. A trio of Tiger posted multiple RBI outings. Douglas Frazier and Colin McKeen each recorded three RBI in the contest to lead the Red and White offensive attack while Kevin Deese logged two RBI. McKeen and Deese each tallied a homerun in the affair. Deese leads the Tigers with three homers on the season while McKeen logged his first in a UWA uniform. Dallas Rogers continues to pace UWA with a .400 batting average.

Lynn, which enters the weekend series with a 4-2-1 record, dropped its last outing 13-8 to the University of South Carolina at Aiken. The Fighting Knight have five batters hitting above the .400 mark for the season led by Chris Chavez' .500 batting clip. Chavez leads LU with five homeruns and 18 RBI.

Friday's series opener marks the first ever meeting between the two NCAA Division South Region members. Last season, the Red and White went 2-2 against schools from the Sunshine State Conference. The Tigers split with Tampa, eliminated Barry from the South Regional and lost to Florida Southern in the regional.

The weekend series at Lynn continues with a doubleheader on Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m. CST and Sunday's single contest scheduled for a 10:00 a.m. CST start. All games will be available via live stats and a radio broadcast at www.uwaathletics.com.
