Tigers Host West Georgia in Midweek Doubleheader

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama baseball team returns to action on Wednesday, Mar. 3 as UWA (8-6) hosts West Georgia in a non-conference, midweek doubleheader. First pitch is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. The game will be available via live stats and video stream at www.uwaathletics.com.

The Tigers look to return to the win column after being swept over the weekend by Delta State.

UWA is led at the dish by Brian Simone, Kevin Deese and Dallas Rogers, who are hitting above the .350 mark. Simone leads the way with a .368 batting average with Deese narrowly behind his junior teammate at .367. Rogers has posted a .362 batting clip. Deese and Simone are among the top four team leaders in RBI with 12 and 11 respectively.

UWG (6-11) enters the midweek affair having snapped a three-game losing streak with an 11-4 over Albany State on Sunday. Two Wolves lead the way offensively as Ben Lillis and Michael Hornsby are both batting over .400 for the season. Lillis has posted a .488 average at the plate while Hornsby has tallied a .410 average.

West Alabama closes out the eight game homestand this weekend as UWA faces Talladega College in a three-game, weekend series. The series opens on Saturday, Mar. 6 with a 2:00 p.m. doubleheader and closes with a scheduled single game on Sunday, Mar. 7 at 1:00 p.m.
