UWA Looks To Keep Rolling At UAH

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Looking to build upon a perfect start in conference play, the University of West Alabama women's basketball team will travel to Huntsville on Saturday for a 5 p.m. contest against UAH. The Tigers enter the contest with a stellar 14-2 (2-0 Gulf South Conference) record, while UAH sits at 6-10 (1-2 GSC).

With a 66-61 victory against West Florida on Friday night, the 2010-11 Tigers now own the best start in school history as they bested the 13-2 mark that was set by the 2001-02 squad.

The win also pushed UWA's win streak out to 10 games. The string of victories is the third-best in program history as the 1980-81 team won 11 games in a row and the 1981-82 squad captured 17 consecutive.

With yet another strong performance in the West Florida game, senior Mystee Dale moved into second in scoring on the national ledger with a 21.8 points per game average. She dropped 24 on the Argos and scored seven of the game's final 10 points to help ensure the UWA victory.

Latashia Greer has also been strong for the Tigers in conference play thus far as she has averaged 12 points and 10.5 rebounds in the two games. The senior picked up a double-double against UWF on Thursday night with 12 points and 12 rebounds.

The Lady Chargers enter the contest on a two-game slide, having dropped a 62-56 decision at Valdosta State and losing 62-61 at home against West Georgia on Thursday. Prior to the pair of setbacks, UAH had been victorious in four straight.

Leading the way for the Lady Chargers is Jasmine Hammon who is scoring 17.9 points per contest, and she is joined by four others in scoring double figures.

As a team, UAH is ranked next-to-last in the league in scoring defense as they give up an average of almost 74 points a night.

The game will be broadcasted locally on ESPN 104.9 and can also be heard at www.espn1049.com. Live stats for the contest will be available at www.uahchargers.com.
