LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama women's basketball team's Bellah Machen, Haley Nichols, Nailah Mayes, and Callie Cowan were named CSC Academic All-District honorees on Tuesday.
Machen, Nichols, Mayes, and Cowan stood out both on and off the court for the Tigers, earning CSC Academic All-District recognitions. To be selected, a student-athlete must maintain a minimum GPA of 3.5 and either compete in 90 percent of the team's games or start in at least 66 percent of contests during the season.
Machen adds a CSC Academic All-District selection to her impressive 2025–26 resume. On the court, the senior led West Alabama and ranked fourth in the GSC with 15.4 points per game while shooting 44 percent from the field. The shooting guard was also active on the glass, averaging 4.9 rebounds per game, while contributing a team-high 1.3 steals per game on the defensive end. In the classroom, Machen is a sport management major and finished the fall semester with a 3.87 GPA.
Nichols concluded her collegiate career with the best season of her tenure. She nearly averaged a double-double, posting 13.0 points and 9.0 rebounds per game. The center was highly efficient offensively, shooting 60 percent from the field and 36 percent from three-point range. Academically, the graduate student holds a 3.71 GPA while pursuing her MBA.
Mayes provided an instant offensive boost to UWA's roster in 2025–26. The forward averaged 10.2 points on 56 percent shooting in 19.8 minutes per game, while also adding 4.6 rebounds per contest. Off the court, Mayes is a collaborative teacher/special education K–6 major and currently holds a 3.85 GPA.
Cowan closed out her collegiate career with a CSC Academic All-District selection. The guard averaged 8.1 points per game and recorded 1.2 steals per contest on the defensive end. Academically, Cowan holds a 3.58 GPA as a cell and molecular biology major.
Machen, Nichols, Mayes, and Cowan helped highlight a UWA team that posted a 3.35 team GPA during the fall semester.
