Tigers Travel to West Georgia for GSC Contest

LIVINGSTON, Ala. -- The University of West Alabama men's basketball team travels to Carrollton, Ga. on Thursday, Jan. 26 for its second road Gulf South Conference contest on the season. UWA is scheduled to face West Georgia at 6:30 p.m. CST. The game will be aired on ESPN 104.9 FM and www.uwaathletics.com along with live stats.

UWA (6-10 overall, 1-2 GSC) enters Thursday's contest against the Wolves coming off a 69-49 loss at No.7 UAH. Richard Dixon and Alquan Mendenhall paced the Red and White in scoring with 14 and 11 points respectively. Korielle Beavers pulled down a team-best eight rebounds in the effort.

Alquan Mendenhall continues to pace the Tigers in scoring averaging 13.8 points per game. Ryan Fitch has also been a key contributor as well scoring 9.3 points and grabbing 6.6 rebounds per contest.

UWG (9-6, 1-1 GSC) picked up its first conference win of the campaign on Saturday, Jan. 22 with a 77-74 victory over North Alabama. Da'Ron Sims leads the Red and Blue in scoring with 14.8 points per game while Gavin Field paces the Wolves on the glass with 8.1 boards per outing.

Following the visit to UAH, West Alabama returns to action on Saturday, Jan. 29 as the Tigers host in-state foe North Alabama. Tip-off is scheduled for 4 p.m. The game can be followed via live stats and live video at www.uwaathletics.com.
