LIVINGSTON, Ala. –
The University of West Alabama baseball team is set to make its home debut as the squad welcomes Lynn University for a four-game set this weekend. The teams will play a single game on Friday, a doubleheader on Saturday and wrap up the series with one contest on Sunday.

The 2011 home opener is slated for 1 p.m. on Friday.

The Tigers enter the series with a 3-4 mark following a pair of road trips as UWA opened the season at Columbus State before travelling to Georgia Southwestern last weekend.

Through the season's first seven games, Ladarrius Cole is pacing the Red and White offense. The transfer from Itawamba Community College has a team-best .379 batting average, and with nine runs, he is on top in that category as well. Cole has also displayed speed as he is a perfect 6-for-6 in steals including a pair of games in which he recorded two.

Fellow newcomer Jeb Huber has been the bright spot on the mound as he has won his first two starts in an UWA uniform and he boasts a pristine 0.00 ERA. He has a struck out a team-high seven while limiting the opposition to hit just .156.

Lynn features a 3-3 record on the season but two of those wins have been over ranked opponents including a big 16-5 victory over then-No. 22 Florida Tech on Feb. 8. Phil Mannelly is the leading hitter for the Fighting Knights as he owns a .438 batting average on the young season, and with 2-0 record to go along with a 1.80 ERA, Andrew Virgilli is LU's leading pitcher.

This will mark just the second time the two schools have met in baseball with the previous meeting coming a year ago. The Tigers traveled to Boca Raton, Fla. and took three of four from the then-defending national champions. Brian Simone was impressive against the Fighting Knights, picking up eight hits in 16 at bats including three doubles, a triple and a home run as he drove in six runs on the weekend.

Each of the four contests will be heard on ESPN 104.9 FM, and live stats along with a live video broadcast will be available at www.uwaathletics.com.
