LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Trying to build off the momentum of two-straight Gulf South Conference victories, the University of West Alabama men's basketball team (5-12, 3-2 GSC) travels to Pensacola, Fla., to take on West Florida on Sunday. Tip time is slated for 4 p.m.
UWA enters Sunday's meeting after snapping two of the school's longest losing streaks. The Tigers defeated Delta State on Jan. 14 for the first time in 10 meetings, before taking down Valdosta State for the first time in nine tries on Jan. 19.
The 14-point win over VSU featured the squad's best shooting performance of the year. In that contest, the Red and White had four players score in double figures as the team shot 56 percent from the field for the game.
Senior guard
Alquan Mendenhall has led the Tigers as of late, scoring 26 points against Valdosta State, while junior guard
Jared Woolfolk put in 16 points against the Blazers. Meanwhile, junior point guard
Steven Samuels leads the team in scoring for the year, averaging 17 points per outing.
West Florida enters Sunday's game in search of its third conference triumph of the year. The Argos meet UWA on Sunday following two-straight losses to No. 17 Alabama-Huntsville and West Georgia.
