Tiger Basketball Hosts AUM Wednesday; Fans Have Chance at $10,000

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Stepping out of Gulf South Conference play for the last time this season, the University of West Alabama men's basketball team (5-13, 3-3 GSC) hosts a rematch against Auburn-Montgomery Wednesday evening at 7 p.m. Fans are encouraged to sign up for a chance to win $10,000 during halftime of Wednesday's game.

The Tigers enter the contest fresh off last week's GSC split. After defeating Valdosta State last Thursday, UWA was stunned by a hot-shooting West Florida squad on Sunday. Coach Newell's team also lost to AUM last week, falling in the final seconds to the Warhawks, 65-64.

For the season, the Tigers are led by four players that average double figures in scoring for the season, including a team-high 16.1 points per game from point guard Steven Samuels. Meanwhile, junior forward Ryan Fitch leads the squad with 204 points scored for the season.

Following Wednesday's meeting, West Alabama steps back into GSC play when the team hosts West Georgia on Saturday at 4 p.m.

Fans can follow the Tigers in every Gulf South Conference game by listening in to ESPN 104.9 or by logging on to uwaathletics.com.
