Tiger Men’s Basketball Set for GSC Clash with UNA

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Fresh off a tough 71-60 loss to No. 13 UAH on Thursday, the University of West Alabama men's basketball team (2-10, 0-1 GSC) welcomes UNA into Pruitt Hall Saturday afternoon for a 4 p.m. tip.

The Tigers meet up with North Alabama after suffering a tough setback against Alabama-Huntsville. In that affair, UWA trailed by five late in the game but failed to overcome a late surge in the 11-point defeat. With the loss, the Tigers have now dropped three straight on the season.

Part of UWA's success against the Chargers was the play of newcomer Steven Samuels. Playing mostly at the point guard position, the New Jersey native scored 22 points to go along with four assists. Meanwhile, junior guard Jared Woolfolk continues to lead the team in scoring, averaging 12.7 points per outing.

UNA enters Saturday's game fresh off a thrilling 81-78 win over West Georgia on Thursday. Four players reached double figures in that contest, moving the Lions' record to 8-4 on the season. UNA is led by Theron Jenkins, who is averaging 15.8 points a game.

Following Saturday's contest against UNA, West Alabama travels to Memphis, Tenn., to face Christian Brothers on Jan. 12, before heading to Cleveland, Miss., to take on Delta State on Jan. 14.
