Box Score ROME, Ga. – Anthony Banks and C.J. Davis scored 24 points each to lead Shorter to a 100-83 Gulf South Conference victory over West Alabama Thursday at the Winthrop-King Centre.
The victory improves Shorter to 5-1 overall and 1-0 in the GSC. The Tigers fell to 3-3 and 0-1 in the league.
The Hawks jumped out to a 55-43 halftime lead were never really threatened in the second half by UWA. Shorter shot 50 percent from the floor, making 32-of-63 field goal attempts, and outrebounded the Tigers 49-34. The Hawks made 9-of-19 three pointers.
Dedric Ware scored 18 points for the Hawks, followed by Kenny Leverette, who had 15 points and 15 rebounds.
Sandy Underwood scored 28 points for West Alabama to lead all scorers.
Jack Hill added 15 points and
Joshua Millsap chipped in 10. Underwood collected nine rebounds for the Tigers.
The Tigers continue a three-game road swing at Alabama-Huntsville on Saturday. Tipoff is 8 p.m.
