Tiger Basketball Heads to Northern Part of State for Pair of Weekend Contests

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – In search of a needed win in conference play, the University of West Alabama men's basketball team heads to the northern part of the state this weekend for games against Alabama-Huntsville and North Alabama. Tip for Thursday' game against the Chargers is set for 7:30 p.m.

Fans can follow the action on ESPN 104.9 with Jason Gardner and Tray Littlefield calling the action. Additionally, fans can follow live stats on www.uwaathletics.com.

The Tigers enter Thursday's meeting against UAH at 3-4 in conference play after falling to No. 22 West Georgia last Saturday. The task gets even tougher for UWA this week as the squad faces a stout UAH team that is ranked No. 12 in the country and has won six straight in conference play.

After battling with the Chargers, the Red and White head to Florence, Ala., to take on North Alabama at 3 p.m. on Saturday. UNA is a team the Tigers beat earlier in the season, as UWA took a commanding win on Jan. 7 for the squad's first conference triumph.

Leading UWA this week will be junior point guard Steven Samuels who leads the team in scoring with 16.3 points per game. Junior guard Jared Woolfolk adds 11.9 points per game to that total for the Tigers.
