Box Score CARROLLTON, Ga. – West Alabama allowed a season high of 72 kills to fall to West Georgia 3-2 in Gulf South Conference action on Thursday. The Tigers drop to a five match losing skid.
West Georgia (10-6; 5-4 GSC) traded sets with West Alabama (8-9; 2-7 GSC) taking sets one (25-19), three (25-20) and five (15-9). The Tigers claimed sets two (25-23) and four (26-24) while posting season highs of 63 kills, 61 assists and 89 digs.
Five separate Wolves tallied double-digit kills with Lesley Bemis leading with 15. On defense, Melissa Holt led the court with 40 digs, the most by any UWA opponent.
Morgan Ray recorded her second most kills in a five set match with 18.
Yanesha Johnson ended with 15.
Cynthia Smith led the Tigers in digs for the second time this season by setting a season high with 24.
Carly Wehling led with 29 assists while posting 20 digs.
UWA will remain in Carrollton, Ga., for the West Georgia Crossover tournament. The Tigers will face Nova Southeastern in the first round on Friday at 1 p.m. (C.S.T.).
