Box Score VALDOSTA, Ga. – Valdosta State's Jenna Kirkwood posted 21 kills to defeat West Alabama volleyball 3-1 in Gulf South Action on Tuesday.
Valdosta State (15-9; 7-4 GSC) claimed sets one (25-20), three (25-22) and four (25-20). West Alabama (9-14; 2-10) won set two (25-18) to suffer its third straight loss.
The Tigers posted its season high attack percentage of .252, but were out-killed by the Blazers 69-50. UWA totaled 10 team blocks while holding VSU to six. Â
Jessica Voyles and
Sadie Beam each totaled 10 kills to lead the Tiger offense. Voyles ended with a .562 attack percentage.
Carly Wehling led with 26 assists. Wehling,
Sadie Beam and
Cynthia Smith each marked double digit kills with Smith leading with 16.
Jessica Codato led the Blazers with 43 assists and Krista Bradford led with 20 digs.
UWA will remain on the road to take on Union University on Friday. The match is set for 7 p.m. in Jackson, Tenn.Â
