CBU Sweeps Volleyball

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – Christian Brothers University posted a .250 attack percentage while holding West Alabama volleyball to .091 to win 3-0 in Gulf South Conference action on Saturday.  

Christian Brothers (11-15; 7-6 GSC) swept West Alabama (10-15; 3-11) with scores of 25-15, 25-20 and 25-15.  

"Today was a very trying day for our team," said UWA head volleyball coach Jordan Lay. "We are not at level we want to be at right now, but we are ready to be back home to play in front of our fans to put together some more wins and build confidence going into the conference tournament."

Four Buccaneers tallied two service aces each as the team combined for 10. The Tigers out-blocked their opponent 6-4 with Liz Woodard posting two solo blocks as well as two assists.

The Buccaneers' held the Tigers to a season low of 21 combined kills. Carly Wehling and Yanesha Johnson each posted five. CBU's Alison Welch led the court with 15.

Cynthia Smith led the Tiger defense with 10 digs. Stephanie Korbakes led CBU with 15.

The Tigers will return home for its final four matches of the regular season. The home stand begins with Alabama-Huntsville on Friday. The match is set for 7 p.m. in Pruitt Hall.
