LIVINGSTON, Ala. – West Alabama baseball fell 5-3 in game one and 2-1 in game two in a double-header to Saint Leo on Sunday. Saint Leo (9-2) sweept the three game series in West Alabama's (2-8) home opening weekend.  

“I thought for the most part we played real well,” said UWA head coach Gary Rundles.

“I thought Bolleter pitched real well despite giving up a run. We did a good job battling back at the end of game two, but we made a couple of mistakes that cost us the game.”

In game one, Saint Leo's starting pitcher Rick Teasley picked up his first win despite giving up three runs. Adam Albers got the save in both games with eight total strikeouts in two total innings on the day. West Alabama's Taylor Bratton suffered his first loss of the season after giving up four runs in six innings.

The Lion's designated hitter tallied three runs in three at bats in game one. Cole Prater totaled two RBI's for the Tigers. Chris Kilpatrick, DJ Turo and Mitch Holgate accounted for the three UWA runs.

In game two, Brent Krauss picked up his first win giving up only four hits in six innings. UWA pitcher Nick Bolleter was credited with the loss but gave up only one run in six innings.  

Frank Rawdow and Michael Revell recorded the two runs for Saint Leo. Pinch hitter Zach Dugas accounted for the only UWA run in the bottom of the seventh inning of game two.  

“We're just doing a lot of things right now that you can't do and we need to get them corrected,” said Rundles.

“We have to come back out and get back to work. Our guys are a lot better than our record shows. We just have to work on not getting down ourselves.”

West Alabama will remain on the road to take on Selma University on February 19, at 2 p.m. Saint Leo remains on the road to take on Albany State (Georgia) on February 18.
