Lee Scores Overtime Win Over UWA Women’s Soccer

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Suzanne Arant guided home an unassisted goal in overtime to lift Lee to a 1-0 Gulf South Conference women's soccer victory over West Alabama Friday at Tiger Stadium. The Flames victory snapped a nine-match UWA winning streak.
 
Lee improved to 6-4-1 overall and 4-1 in GSC play. West Alabama's is 9-2 and 5-1.
 
The Flames had 12 shots and West Alabama 11 in regulation. Arant guided Lee's second shot of the extra period into the top of net from about 18 yards out for the game winner.
 
Nicki Gears led UWA with four shots. Kinsey Cichowitz had four for Lee. Arant's game winner came on her only shot of the match.
 
"Lee is a quality side. We had good chances, but I just felt we were half a yard off tonight," UWA head coach Graeme Orr said. "We will recap lessons tomorrow and be ready for Sunday."
 
West Alabama returns to action Sunday at 1 p.m., hosting Shorter in another GSC match at Tiger Stadium. Lee continues it road trip with a 2 p.m. match at Alabama-Huntsville.
