LIVINGSTON, Ala. – University of West Alabama junior midfielder
Katy Morris netted her second game winning goal of the season to lead the Tigers to a 2-0 victory over Shorter University in Gulf South Conference women's soccer action on Sunday.
West Alabama surpassed Christian Brothers University in the GSC standings at 6-1 in league play; 10-2 overall. Shorter drops to eighth place in the conference at 3-4 and 8-4.
Morris' goal came in the 33
rd minute on a shot from 15 yards out. It was her fourth goal of the season.

Nicki Gears extended the lead with a goal off of a rebounded shot by freshman
Chelsea Commings just three minutes later. Gears is now the GSC's fifth leading scorer with seven goals this season.
The Tigers posted 13 shots on-goal, while the defense held the Hawks to four. Gears led with five shots on-goal followed by Commings with four.

Issy Foster picked up the win, making four saves to improve to 7-2 in the net. It was Fosters third shutout of the season. Alden Powell took the loss to fall to 8-3. Powell tallied 11 saves.
West Alabama returns to the road to take on Spring Hill College in its first season as a member of the GSC. The match is set for 4 p.m. in Mobile, Ala.
