MOBILE, Ala. – University of West Alabama freshman
Nina Coleman netted her first collegiate goal as the equalizer in the 76
th minute to tie Spring Hill College 2-2 in double-overtime in Gulf South Conference women's soccer action Friday.
West Alabama remains at the top of the GSC standings at 3-1-1; 6-1-1 overall. Spring Hill drops to 3-7-2 overall and 1-6-2 in the league.
Coleman's goal came from six yards out off of a pass by
Nicki Gears.
Five minutes into the match, Courtney Harlan gave the Badgers a 1-0 lead with a goal off of a corner kick from Aedan Stranhan. Harlan struck again in the 38
th minute to take a 2-1 lead.
Nicki Gears responded in the 21
st minute with her eighth goal of the season on an assist from
Lauren Tate. Gears remains within striking distance of the Top 5 active career leading scorers with 45 goals in four seasons; two less than the NCAA's fifth leader.
UWA goalkeeper
Issy Foster made one save to move to 8-2-1, while SHC keeper Maggie Dalessio compiled 11 saves to move to 1-6-1.
West Alabama women's soccer remains in GSC road action to take on West Florida in Pensacola, Fla. Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
