PENSACOLA, Fla. – Four University of West Florida volleyball players tallied double-digit kills to defeat the University West Alabama 3-1 in Gulf South Conference action Friday.
 West Florida improves to 13-3 in the GSC, ranked second; 20-6 overall. With three matches remaining, West Alabama is only one seed behind qualifying for the conference tournament at 7-10 in the league and 9-18 overall. UWA bounced back from losing set one 25-19 to winning set two 25-17. The Argonauts took the final two sets 26-24 and 25-15.
Corisha Smith led the Argonauts with 13 kills, followed by Sarah Scott with 12 and Holly Mattmuller and Katy Mattmuller with 10 each. UWF combined to hit .260, while the Tigers finished with .237 attack percentage.
Yanesha Johnson led UWA with 14 kills.
Sadie Beam recorded her ninth double-double with 11 kills and 14 digs. Beam surpassed Delice Downing (2000-01) as the program's 10
th all-time kill leader with 771 in her career and Christy Ricks (1998-02) as the ninth all-time dig leader with 854.
Lindsey Ball matched Beam's 14 digs to lead the defense. Â
Sam Burgess supported the attack with 21 assists.
Callie Murphy surpassed 1,000 career assists with 16 against the Argonauts. She now owns 1,013 through two seasons.
West Alabama volleyball will host in-state conference rival North Alabama Tuesday at 6 p.m. in its final home regular season match.
