HUNTSVILLE, Ala. – The University of Alabama Huntsville came from behind to defeat the University of West Alabama 3-1 in Gulf South Conference volleyball action Thursday.
UAH improves to 16-12 overall and 10-10 in the GSC in sixth place. With one match remaining in the regular season, West Alabama falls to 9-20 and 7-12; seventh in the league.
The Tigers jumped out to an early lead, commanding set one 25-19. UAH battled back and stunted a late UWA rally to win set two 26-24 before taking the final two sets 25-16 and 25-22 respectively.
Four Chargers tallied double-digit kills with Haley Snyder, Anna Claire Johnson and Olivia Bauman leading with 14 kills. Johnson, who posted three service aces, totaled a double-double adding 11 digs to her .235 attack percentage.
UAH led 10-6 in total blocks, led by Snyder with three solo and three block assists.
Sadie Beam notched her 10th double-double of the year with 15 kills and 12 digs. The senior is only 17 kills away from becoming the program's ninth career leader as she currently holds 792. Jessica Voyles followed with nine kills, while Elizabeth Culhane hit .412 with eight kills.
Callie Murphy and Sam Burgess supported the attack, combing for 46 assists. Lindsey Ball led the defense with 22 digs, while Jessica Voyles posted two solo blocks and three assists.
The Tigers will close out the regular season against Valdosta State in Valdosta, Ga. on Saturday. Tipoff is set for 1 p.m.Â
