Tigers Move to 8th in NCBWA Division II Region Rankings

LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The University of West Alabama baseball team climbed two spots to No. 8 in this week's National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Division II South Region Rankings.
 
The Tigers are 22-11 overall and 11-8 in Gulf South Conference play. UWA currently sits in fourth place in the GSC standings behind West Florida (25-5, 17-3), Delta State (24-7, 19-4) and Alabama-Huntsville (25-14, 14-7). UWF, DSU and UAH are ranked second, fourth and sixth in the South Region, respectively.
 
West Alabama still has trips to West Florida and Huntsville to make this season, but a visit to Jackson, Tenn., to face Union University (12-23, 5-14) in a three-game GSC series comes first this weekend. The Tigers have 11 games remaining in the regular season. All 11 are on the road.
 
The weekend series at Union begins with a doubleheader at 1 p.m. Saturday. The games will be broadcast live on ESPN 104.9 or www.espn1049.com, with Hunter Gibson handling the play-by-play duties. Tiger fans can also follow live stats at http://www.sidearmstats.com/uu/baseball/.
