LIVINGSTON, Ala. – Alabama Southern Community College pitcher Kayla Jordan has signed a National Letter of Intent to play softball at the University of West Alabama on Friday.
A native of Excel, Ala., Jordan earned First Team Alabama Community College honors in each of her two seasons with the Eagles. In 42 appearances she compiled a 3.63 ERA and led the team with 170 strikeouts last season. In the classroom she earned her Associates degree in Applied Science with a 3.74 GPA.
A graduate of Excel High School, Jordan spent seven years on the varsity softball team beginning in the seventh grade. In 2010, she led EHS to its first Area and Regional Championships as well as its first State Playoff in fast-pitch history; an achievement repeated in the following season.
She is a three-time Monroe Journal Newspaper Player of the Year, a two-time State All-Tournament team and Regional Tournament MVP.
Off the field, Jordan is highly active in community service, volunteering with the Retired Senior Volunteer Program, the Englewood Nursing Home, her church's youth group and helping to coach youth league softball.
