LIVINGSTON, Ala. - The Gulf South Conference has chosen two Athletes to represent the conference as nominees for the 2025 NCAA Woman of the Year Award with West Alabama Softball's Marissa Mitchell being one of the nominees.
To be eligible, a nominee must have competed and earned a varsity letter in an NCAA-sponsored sport and must have earned her undergraduate degree by summer 2025.Â
Conference-level nominees are forwarded to a selection committee who chooses top 30, then top nine, and finally the winner.Â
In the 2025 season, Mitchell stamped her name as one of the greatest UWA Softball players in school history. The Second Baseman led the Tigers in all of the major offensive categories, concluding her final season with a statline of .382 batting average, 15 Home Runs, 43 RBIs, .862 Slugging Percentage, .493 On-Base Percentage, and a 1.355 OPS.Â
The senior was recognized for her efforts in 2025 as she was named a D2CCA and NFCA All-American while being an unanimous First Team All-Region selection. Within the GSC, Mitchell was named to the GSC Top Ten, First Team All-Conference along with a GSC All-Academic acknowledgement after putting together a 3.52 GPA as an Athletic Training Major.
Mitchell joins Lee's Ashleigh Simes as the GSC's two nominees.Â
