JACKSON, Tenn. – West Alabama volleyball bounced back from being one set down to winning three straight sets in a 3-1 Gulf South Conference match victory over Union University Friday.
West Alabama improves to 6-10 overall and 4-5 in the GSC. Union drops its fourth consecutive match to fall to 4-11 and 3-6. The Bulldogs squeezed out its only set victory 27-25 in set one. The Tigers responded winning 25-14, 25-13 and 25-20 in the ensuing sets.

Alexis Meeks had a fantastic game plan and the girls responded to it. In all it was a complete team effort."
The points started from the serve with UWA claiming 10 aces, while Union finished with four. Â
Callie Murphy led the Tigers, setting a career high of five service aces. Vic Collins followed with her second most of three. Murphy went on to finish with 23 assists.
The attack continued with Brianna Sandifer tallying 16 kills, leading West Alabama to a .288 attack percentage. She finished with a double-double, adding 10 digs on defense.
At the net on defense, the Tigers held Union to a .145 attack percentage with seven blocks.
Taylin McCarver assisted on all five of the team's block assists, while adding one solo block.
Morgan Ray and
Liz Woodard each assisted on two, and Ray also added another solo block.
Abby Ames led the defense with 11 digs. Â
The Bulldogs were led on offense by Deja Moorer who finished the match with 12 kills.
"We could not be happier," Lay said. "We need to use this positive energy and focus it into a tough CBU match tomorrow."
West Alabama volleyball will take on Christian Brothers University on Saturday. The match is set for 1 p.m.
