BIRMINGHAM, Ala. – West Alabama guard
Jake Jobling was selected as the Gulf South Conference Men's Basketball Freshman of the Week on Tuesday, marking the first Tiger to earn the weekly honor.
Jobling hit 3-of-3 from beyond the arc in his collegiate debut. His nine points and three assists helped lead the Tigers to a 90-78 season-opening win over reigning NCAA Division II national champions Florida Southern. The Canberra, Australia native shot 67 percent (4-of-6) through 40 minutes of play during the week.
West Alabama (1-1) will travel to take on Stillman College (2-0) on Tuesday. Tipoff is set for 7:30 p.m. in Tuscaloosa, Ala.
