LIVINGSTON, Ala. – The start time for Saturday's Gulf South Conference doubleheader against Christian Brothers has been shifted to noon at Tartt Field on the UWA campus. Sunday's single game will start at the scheduled time of 1 p.m.
West Alabama comes into the three-game series against the Buccaneers riding an eight-game winning streak. The Tigers are 19-8 overall and 12-5 in the GSC. CBU is 8-12 and 3-8.
The Tigers are expected to send right-handers
Jorge Cruz (5-2, 3.29),
Fernando Gonzalez (5-1, 2.20) and
Gandy Stubblefield (2-2, 2.48) to the mound against Christian Brothers.
West Alabama centerfielder
Nick Delgado will be looking to extend a 12-game hitting streak that has him leading Tiger hitters with a .478 batting average. The Tigers have six regulars hitting over .300. First baseman
Tanner Rainey, who also doubles as UWA's closer and has six saves, leads the team in home runs with five and runs batted in with 24.
